Invitation to Bid: Training on Policy and Outreach Capacity

Background

The Sana’a Center for Strategic Studies is an independent think-tank that seeks to foster change through knowledge production with a focus on Yemen and the surrounding region. The Center’s publications and programs, offered in both Arabic and English, cover political, social, economic, and security-related developments, aiming to impact policy locally, regionally, and internationally.

To enhance its outreach capacity and impact, the Sana’a Center seeks to provide targeted training to its staff on effective policy influence and outreach strategies. This training is essential to ensure that the Center’s team is equipped with the skills needed to influence policy and engage effectively with stakeholders.

Objective of the Training

• Provide practical techniques to the Sanaa Center’s staff on policy outreach processes to influence national and international stakeholders.
• Equip staff with the tools necessary to design and implement effective outreach strategies.
• Enhance the overall capacity of the Center’s team in influencing policy and communicating research findings to a broader audience.

Scope of the Training

• Cover topics such as policy analysis, policy drafting, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy techniques.
• Conduct interactive training sessions, workshops, and practical exercises to build staff competence in policy influence.
• Use real-life examples and case studies relevant to the Center’s work to enhance learning outcomes.
• Provide participants with tools and templates for policy drafting and analysis.
• Guide participants on how to effectively communicate research findings and policy recommendations to diverse audiences, including policymakers, the media, and the public.
• Provide the participants with methods/tools on how to measure the impact of outreach efforts.
• Provide integrated digital outreach strategies, including social media and online platforms, to broaden the Center’s reach.

Expected tasks

• Prepare a detailed plan for the training modules.
• Use practical examples from Yemen and design practical exercises for the trainees.
• Provide background reading and training material in Arabic or English.
• Conduct the training according to the agreed timeline.

Skills of Trainers

• Excellent Arabic or English language skills
• Extensive experience in policy influence and outreach
• Familiarity with the Yemeni context is an advantage
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
