We welcome original publication proposals from external contributors whose work aligns with the Sana’a Center’s mission to produce rigorous, accessible, and impactful research on Yemen and the broader region. The Sana’a Center commissions a range of publication types, including timely commentaries, analysis articles, policy briefs, and in-depth reports.
Category (a) short analysis:
- Commentaries/Short Analysis (800–2,000 words): A brief, focused piece that offers timely insights or reflections on a current issue or event, typically aiming to influence public discourse or provide expert perspectives.
Category (b) research-based publications:
- Policy Memos / In-depth Analysis (2,000–3,000 words): A concise, focused piece that analyzes a single issue or policy challenge, providing clear, actionable recommendations targeted directly at policymakers for immediate decision-making.
- Policy Briefs (3,500–5,000 words): An evidence-based, actionable publication offering in-depth, well-researched analysis of a policy issue, designed to inform and influence broader policy debates and strategies.
- White Papers (5,500–10,000 words): A comprehensive, research-intensive study that explores the background, context, and multiple policy options on a complex issue, often setting the foundation for long-term policy development.
- All proposals are reviewed based on quality, originality, and relevance to the Sana’a Center’s work and audience. For research-based publications, additional emphasis is placed on policy relevance, methodological soundness, rigor, and feasibility.
Proposals undergo an initial screening to ensure they meet minimum requirements. Those that pass this stage move on to a more substantive evaluation. Writers will be notified if their proposal advances beyond the initial review. If a proposal is approved, the contributor will be compensated based on the type of publication, its level of complexity, and the contributor’s level of expertise.
