Local Consultant (3)

The Sana’a Center for Strategic Studies is seeking a full-time Local Consultant. The selected candidate will work closely with the Center to implement projects within the governorates of Hadramawt, Shabwa, or Marib.

Our main office is in Yemen, while most of our team works remotely from locations across Yemen, the Middle East, and major cities around the world. Duties and Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Sana’a project manager to design and implement the Sana’a Center’s local activities.
• Act as a liaison between the Sana’a Center, local authorities, and relevant actors in one of the targeted governorates, either Hadramawt, Shabwa, or Marib.
• Act as a local consultant for the Sana’a Center’s projects in the targeted governorate.
• Help identify participants for workshops and meetings.
• Actively respond to programmatic needs of the Sana’a Center inside the targeted governorate.
• Attend all relevant workshops conducted under the scope of project.
• Implement local activities in accordance with project plans.
• Report on implemented activities on a regular basis.
• Respond to other reasonable tasks requested by the line manager.

Qualification and competencies

• A university degree, preferably in political science, social science, public relations, or any related field.
• Minimum 4 years relevant work experience.
• The candidate must be based in Hadramawt, Shabwa, or Marib.
• Proficient in basic software systems such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Familiar with digital communication platforms such as Zoom and Google Meet.
• Past experience filling reports and navigating financial and administrative reporting systems.
• Demonstrated dedication to project goals with an active communication style. Easily accessible with quick response times.

Founded in 2014, the Sana’a Center is one of the few independent research centers that has continued to operate in Yemen throughout the ongoing conflict. While the Center maintains cordial relations with all key stakeholders, it has remained fiercely unaligned with any of the belligerent parties. The Sana’a Center has thus maintained a unique position and the ability to work throughout Yemen and beyond.

The Center maintains a strong network across Yemen with access to key political, military and security figures, tribal leaders, the financial sector, economists, journalists, humanitarian actors, civil society, and other important stakeholders. The Center has also established a broad network and presence within the international community, connecting it to international organizations, diplomatic circles, regional and international policymakers, research centers and global forums.

The Sana’a Center’s reports and researchers are widely quoted in local, regional, and international media outlets, while the analysis of the Center’s experts is regularly sought out by local and international stakeholders.
