About the Role

The Sana’a Center is seeking a Media and Communications Intern to support its English-language communications activities. This internship offers hands-on experience in strategic communications within a leading Yemeni research center.

Working under the supervision of the Executive Director for Knowledge Production, the intern will support the Center’s communications work, with a focus on social media content, short-form video, and graphic design. The internship is suitable for current students or recent graduates seeking to develop practical skills in digital communications and content creation.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Social Media Content
    • Draft, schedule, and publish English-language posts across the Center’s social media accounts.
    • Turn research outputs, quotes, and key findings into engaging content series.
    • Prepare engagement reports and propose ways to improve performance.
  • Video and Graphics
    • Cut and edit short videos for social media (clips, reels, subtitled quotes, event highlights).
    • Design posters, cards, and graphics that follow the Center’s visual identity.
    • Prepare visual assets for publications, webinars, and events.
  • Content Support
    • Work with editors to draft press releases and extract key messages from knowledge production outputs.
    • Produce media packages for knowledge products (social copy, key quotes, short summaries).
    • Support production and promotion of podcasts, webinars, conferences, and workshops.
    • Draft and format English-language newsletters in Mailchimp, and maintain mailing lists.
  • Coordination and Learning
    • Support content planning and maintain media asset libraries.
    • Coordinate the English-language media email account and respond to media requests.
    • Support the Yemen Exchange with communications and publicity tasks.
    • Undertake additional relevant tasks that support learning and team goals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or current enrollment in communications, media, journalism, digital media, or a related field.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills, Arabic is an asset.
  • Basic experience or demonstrated interest in social media content creation and digital communications.
  • Ability to write clear, engaging, and audience-appropriate content for social media and digital platforms.
  • Good understanding of social media platforms and digital content trends.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills, with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Mailchimp, or similar digital tools is an asset.

Internship Details:

  • Reports to: Executive Director for Knowledge Production
  • Contract type: Internship Agreement
  • Duration: 3–6 months, part-time/full-time
  • Location: Remote.
  • Starting date: November 1, 2026.

About Sana’a Center

The Sana’a Center for Strategic Studies is an independent Yemeni think tank that generates knowledge and contributes to shaping policy on Yemen and the wider region.
