Report Launch: The Life Phases of a Yemeni Woman
This study examines the diversity of experiences of women and girls in Yemen who face differing gender dynamics and challenges at various stages in their lives. It looks at underlying gender dynamics and cultural, social, political and economic challenges at each phase, as well as noting salient changes in the context of the war and the massive humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
The report's author, Marta Colburn, will be among the panelists along with Sana'a Center Economist Amal Nasser and Researcher Rim Mugahed. Nasser recently studied the status of women’s recruitment, retention and promotion in the Yemeni labor market. Mugahed is currently working on a policy brief on the gendered impact of the coronavirus in Yemen.
Amb. Charlotta Sparre, the director of the Swedish Dialogue Institute, and Sana'a Center Researcher AbuBakr al-Shamahi will co-facilitate the session. There will be a Q&A following the panelists' presentations.
