Women’s Public Space Platform

The Women’s Public Space Platform is an initiative focused on addressing the challenges faced by Yemeni women in the public sphere and the impact of shrinking civic space on their participation in public life, democratic processes, and civil society.
2022 — Ongoing

About the platform

Established in 2022, in response to increasing restrictions on women’s freedom of movement, the platform brings together women from diverse backgrounds and sectors, including academia, civil society, media, business, politics, and government institutions, alongside a number of male allies.

Barriers facing women in public life are documented and analysed through the platform, alongside efforts to amplify their voices and produce recommendations for national and international stakeholders. Through dialogue, research, knowledge production, and advocacy, participants exchange experiences, map common challenges, and shape collective responses. Through these efforts, the platform promotes more enabling conditions for women’s meaningful participation in decision-making and public affairs across Yemen.
