The project focuses on supporting the next generation of women activists and women in peacebuilding, in five Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) countries – Libya, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, and Palestine.
SAWT expands women’s inclusion in politics and peace processes throughout the Middle East by increasing their influence over diplomatic outcomes and peace-building, establishing egalitarian post-conflict gender frameworks, and contributing to the long-term success of reconciliation and reconstruction efforts.
The project’s design creates new venues and mechanisms for cross-regional, intergenerational, cross-sectoral exchange, and coalition-building for the purpose of shared learning and collective action planning. It also creates a forum for South-North Exchange (SNX) which provides unique opportunities for women from the MENA region to exchange ideas and experiences with key individuals and institutions in the European Union (EU).
