Applying Economic Lenses and Local Perspectives to Improve Humanitarian Aid Delivery in Yemen
The “Monitoring Humanitarian Aid and its Micro and Macroeconomic Impact” project and its successor, “Applying Economic Lenses and Local Perspectives to Improve Humanitarian Aid Delivery,” examine the relationship between humanitarian assistance and Yemen’s economy.
Through research, dialogue, and knowledge production involving Yemeni and international humanitarian, development, and economic actors, the projects explore how aid influences economic dynamics at both the local and national levels. They seek to strengthen understanding of the interaction between humanitarian programming, markets, livelihoods, and broader economic conditions in a context shaped by conflict and economic crisis.
A core component of the initiative is the production of high-quality economic analysis and policy publications that bring together economic and humanitarian perspectives while amplifying Yemeni expertise and local insights. By applying economic analysis to humanitarian assistance and generating evidence-based recommendations, the projects contribute to discussions on how aid can be delivered more effectively, support resilience and livelihoods, and generate more sustainable outcomes for communities across Yemen.
